Eric Wayne Lewis

May 25, 1944 — April 16, 2025

Eric Wayne Lewis passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Lehi, Utah, at the age of 80. He was born on May 25, 1944, in Murray, Utah, to Murray Roy Lewis and Jessie Neville Lewis.

Wayne married the love of his life, Mary Kristen Pierson, on June 19, 1971, in the Los Angeles California Temple. Together they raised five children and created a legacy of love, service, and faith.

He graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1962 and received an associate degree from Santa Monica City College in 1966. Wayne served faithfully as a missionary in the Brazil Mission from 1963 to 1965. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in statistics from Brigham Young University in 1968 and completed his MBA at BYU in 1970.

Wayne began his banking career as a marketing officer at Bank of America in July 1970. Over the next 37 years, he went on to become the Senior Credit Officer and other executive positions working with several financial institutions including Western Bank of Commerce, Bank of Granada Hills, First Private Bank and Trust, and Boston Private.

Wayne had a lifelong love of service. He served as a Scoutmaster, sharing skills and values with generations of young scouts. He was deeply involved in the local 4-H club, supporting his children and community. Later in life, Wayne and Kristy served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the São Paulo North Mission, helping with the Perpetual Education Fund from 2008–2010. They also served an employment mission together in American Fork, Utah—an experience Wayne loved so much, he continued serving for an additional year on his own.

Wayne and Kristy raised their family and lived in California from 1971 to 2013, before retiring in Cedar Hills, Utah. Together, they shared a passion for home renovation and design, completing major remodels on their homes in Sherman Oaks, Old Agoura, and Cedar Hills. Wayne also helped each of his children with the purchase and renovation of their own homes, generously sharing his time and talents.

Wayne had a creative side in addition to his business acumen. He enjoyed playing the piano. He was a draftsman and was an amazing cook often cooking family dinners on Sunday. Wayne even once entered—and won—a chili cook-off. He loved life, learning, and above all, his family.

Everything Wayne did was for the benefit of his children and wife. His love for them was evident every day.

Wayne is survived by his five children—Katie, Robert, Laura, David, and Rachel—and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his only brother, Brent Lewis, along with Brent’s family and grandchildren, as well as Kristy’s sisters and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kristen Pierson; his mother, Jessie Neville Lewis; and his father, Murray Roy Lewis.
