Eric Ammons Peterson

Eric Ammons Peterson unexpectedly passed away on December 18, 2009. He had just come home on Christmas leave from the US Army in South Korea. He was born on September 29, 1980, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard and Fran Peterson.

He attended school in Salt Lake City and graduated from Skyline High School. He loved playing the trombone in the Jazz Bands at Wasatch Jr. High and Skyline High and the Granite Youth Symphony Orchestra. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. He was able to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1997.

Eric was a hard worker and enjoyed being independent. He was kind and generous with his friends and had a special love for his nieces and nephews. They were proud of him for his service to his country.

Eric joined the US Army in November of 2007 and graduated from Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He attended Microwave Communications School at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he graduated with honors. He was assigned to the Signal Corp in South Korea in August of 2008. Eric received valuable training in the Army and had a bright future.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Eric is survived by his parents, his aunt Ida Ammons, sisters; Kimberly (Brett) Edwards, Andrea (Dean) Ellis and Laura (Luke) Ralphs and brother Brent (Katie) Peterson and 13 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Olympus 5th Ward Chapel, 3070 East Nila Way (4140 South), Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday evening, December 22, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and at the church on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 South Highland Drive). Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
