Ernest Richard “Dick” Riet

Ernest Richard Riet passed away on April 19, 2023, in his home in Salt Lake City at the age of 82. He was born on December 24, 1940, in Rotterdam, Holland-Netherlands to Christiaan Riet and Johanna Schipper. He married Nola Lee Marsh on January 11th, 1963, and was sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on December 19, 1963.
Ernest loved to bike, golf, hike, go to movies, attend museums, and most of all loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took a great amount of pride in managing the laminate countertop department at Chris & Dicks from 1974 to 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife Nola, son, Jeffrey Riet, daughters, Wendy (Charlie) Wilkinson, Debora Riet, and Kimberly (David) Gant, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son Kevin Riet, parents, Christian Riet and Johanna Riet, and siblings John, Ed, Joel, and Joyce. There will be a viewing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 1, 2023, at Memorial Murray Mortuary located at 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah, 84121.
