Esther Christiansen Burt

Our precious and beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother died peacefully in her home December 1, 2008. Esther Christiansen Burt was born January 10, 1923, in Rose, Idaho to Simon Martin and Ingrid Paulsen Christiansen. On January 12, 1941, she married her sweetheart Glenn "Pete" Burt in Yuma, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple December 1993. Esther was a compassionate, kind, and generous lady who was cherished and loved by many. She lived a full and energetic life and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who served in many capacities during her lifetime. She will be remembered for the service and compassion she rendered to the widows in her ward. She was an incredible role model, caregiver and touched many lives with her love, smile, strength of spirit, and generosity. Her Norwegian traditions and love of Norway was a highlight of our family. She is survived by her husband Glenn W. Burt; two brothers Wally and Simon Christiansen, her children Linda (Lynn) Weight, Marilyn (Lenny) Holmquist, Chris Lillie, Patricia (deceased), Rosanne (Ray) Christensen, and Bill (Rhonda) Burt. Esther and Pete were blessed with 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grand children and her nephew Mark Christiansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters, her daughter Patricia and grandson (Justin Holmquist). A viewing will be held on Friday evening, December 5, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. Prior to service Saturday December 6, 2008, a viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Garden Height Ward, 2220 Fisher Lane.
