Eva Egbert Baker

June 2, 1928 — August 7, 2011

Eva Egbert Baker was born in St. Ignatius, Montana on June 2, 1928, the fifth child of ten born to Mont and Myrtle Carter Egbert. She was raised in Harlem, Montana and graduated from High School in 1946. In the Cardston Temple, she received her Patriarchal Blessing from President Wood. She attended Utah State University in Logan. She married in the Logan Temple and later moved to Richland, Washington where she reared her six children.

After 33 years of marriage, she found herself single again, and filled her next 14 years giving service to her children and grandchildren. One spring day she answered a phone call and found herself speaking to someone who had been the love of her youth in Harlem. A friendship was renewed, love blossomed, and Chuck Baker, the love of her life became the center of her world. She enjoyed the next 16 years, filled with travel, reunions, relatives, grandkids and lots and lots of visiting and laughter. Eva brought a special light to any gathering and was fondly acknowledged to be a joyful person that could brighten the world around her.

Survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Baker; sister, Barbara May (Jim); brother, Anson Carter "Ace" Egbert (Bonnie); children - Andy Stewart, JoLynn Hollingsworth (Norm), Bryce Ward (Jeff), Robert Ward (Gina) and Christie Ward. Also very dear to her were Chuck's family; sister, Lois Goodheart; son, James S. Nicely; daughters, Linda Williams, Rebecca Jaschek, Deborah Weickert and Judith McKeon. Most precious were her 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James Barton Ward.
