Eva Sigrid Porsboll Dixon passed away peacefully at her home on March 28th, 2015. She was born on April 25, 1926 in Oslo, Norway to Hans Peder Henrik Peterson Porsboll and Dagmar Elfrida Larson Porsboll. She was the youngest and much-loved little sister in a large family of eight brothers and sisters. Her family were devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she always was very proud of the fact that one of her adored brothers, Kare Porsboll was the First Elder of Norway and translated the Book of Mormon into Norwegian. She loved the LDS missionaries that came frequently to her home. She endured World War II and the Nazi occupation of Norway. She immigrated to Salt Lake City at age 22 because she wanted to come to Zion. She married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951 and became the mother of five beautiful children.
She was preceded in death by her dear son Rolf David Dixon and grandson James but is survived by Rolf's wife Jean Dixon of Ogden and children: David & Jessica Dixon (Rolf, Popy, Tommy & Josie), Don & Sarah Dixon (McKenna & James), Peter & Kaity Dixon (Maylee & David), Angie Dixon Hui & husband Joe (Kent), Robert Dixon, Jonathan Dixon, & Christina Dixon. She is survived by her daughter Irene Dixon of Bountiful and her children Jamie Lundgren (Keira & Kole), Christopher & Amy Farnsworth, Brandon & Nichole Farnsworth (Leo). She is survived by her son Mike Dixon of Sandy who tirelessly cared for her the last several years for which the family is very grateful. She is also survived by her daughter Loraine Joseph of Bountiful and her children Timothy & Tiffany Joseph (Kelly & Faith), Jennifer Joseph, Tony & Malinda Joseph (Henry, Miner, Sam & Angus), & Jesse & Megan Joseph (Tanner & Ethan). And she is survived by her son Jim & Jenny Dixon (Kylie, Trevor & Jessica). These were her joy and her life's legacy. She was also a beloved "grandmother" to many outside her own descendants.
Our dear Grandma loved grandchildren, trips, especially to Disneyland, dolls, teasing and telling stories, writing poetry, family get-togethers, sparkly jewelry, and Christmas. A main event in the lives of the grandchildren was the day they grew taller than their Grandma Dixon. She saw many hardships in her life but was sustained by her strong faith in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Whenever any of her family had problems she would have long discussions with the "Man Upstairs" in their behalf. We will miss her more than we can say but we know she is happy and reunited with loved ones.
Graveside services will be conducted at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 12 noon. There will be a luncheon for the family and a "memory meeting" afterward at her Sandy, Utah ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On line memories and tributes can be posted for the family at: HolbrookMortuary.com.
