In Loving Memory of Faiva Falealili Enele Matuauto
December 30, 1946 – August 7, 2026
With profound love and grateful hearts, we celebrate the life and heavenly reunion of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Faiva Falealili Enele Matuauto, who passed away peacefully surrounded by love in West Jordan, Utah, on August 7, 2026, at the age of 79.
A Life Rooted in Faith & Island Tradition
Faiva was born on December 30, 1946, in the beautiful village of Vatia, American Samoa, to her loving parents, the late Galu Niusulu (of Fitiuta, Manu'a) and the late Moeva Asuega (of Pago Pago & Vatia, American Samoa).
Growing up in Vatia, she attended Vatia Elementary School from 1951 to 1959 and went on to graduate from the High School of American Samoa (1960–1964). Her faith was the guiding light of her life; she served with pure joy as a Sunday School teacher for the Ekalesia Fa'apotopotoga Kerisiano i Vatia Amerika Samoa (EFKSA), planting seeds of love, scripture, and song in the hearts of generations of children.
Eternal Love & Family Legacy
In July of 1967, Faiva’s life journey brought her to Los Angeles, California, where she was married to Amate Savaii (of Nu’uuli, American Samoa), embarking on a chapter that helped shape her beautiful family path.
On June 4, 1979, in Fagatogo, American Samoa, Faiva was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Laufili Lemi Enele Matuauto (of Lano, Savai'i). Their union was forever sweet, sealed for time and all eternity on June 13, 1991, in the Apia Samoa Temple.
Faiva's central pride and joy was her family. She was a woman of incredible grace, warmth, and vibrant spirit. Whether she was weaving traditional Samoan mats with patient hands, singing her favorite hymns, dancing with pure joy, or out fishing on a peaceful day, she filled every space with laughter. In her later years, nothing brought her more delightful cheer than playing Wii video games with her grandchildren, where her competitive spirit and infectious laughter shone brightest.
Faiva’s legacy lives on through her proud and loving family:
Her Children: Albert Enele, Enele Matuauto (and wife Fili), Sally Mautoatasi (and husband Mau), Neda Fuafua Puaina, Nina Maila Lalau (and husband Ed), Kristy Tuiasosopo (and husband Wesley), Fenika Myra Noble (and husband Cameron), and Lusi Matuauto
