Fern Kielland

November 10, 1925 — October 15, 2014

Fern Elizabeth Mitchell Kielland of Holladay, Utah passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Cottonwood Place Senior Living. She was born November 10, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frances Elizabeth Butterwood and Alvin Mitchell. She was married to Sydney Kielland on June 19, 1942. Their marriage lasted 72 years until the time of his passing November 16, 2013.

Fern is survived by two children, Karon Tilson (George) of Holladay, Utah, and Steve Kielland of Centerville, Utah; one granddaughter, Teri Menna (Jeff) of Austin, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Menna and Kolby Menna also of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin J. Mitchell and his children.

Mom especially loved traveling with her daughter and son. They were fortunate to travel on several cruises together. She loved spending time at Bear Lake and their summer home near Flaming Gorge. She dearly loved her two tiny poodles, C.C. and Mindy. During basketball season she could be found in front of the television cheering for the Utah Jazz.

Our sincere thanks for the loving care extended to our mother by Millcreek Hospice and Cottonwood Place. "We will miss you, Mom!"
