Our loving, devoted mother, Fern Lougy, age 84, passed away on November 23rd, 2024, in West Valley, Utah. She lived a life of resilience and strength.
Fern was born to Joseph and Aza Worthen on July 13th, 1940, in Garfield, Utah. She was the sixth of their seven children: Jerry, Kenneth, Wallace, Lucille, Myrtle, Fern, and Gean. After Aza's passing, Joseph married Ida, who brought David and Ann (Chris) into the home.
Fern married Harvey W. Peterson, having five children, and later divorced. On December 21st, 1974, she married Bob Ray Lougy, a member of "The Hangmen," a local honky tonk band. Bob brought laughter and light into her life. Together, they shared a love of Bob’s girls and Fern’s kids.
Fern had an exceptional green thumb, with the ability to grow the brightest garden each year. She also had an incredible gift for sewing and crocheting. These talents were always shared with family and friends.
Fern considered her kids, her family, and her testimony of Jesus Christ her greatest gifts and blessings. She was extremely faithful in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She relied on her faith to pull her through trials and found peace in knowing her Heavenly Father's love for her. She served in many callings while harboring a genuine love and concern for others. After Bob passed away, she solemnized their marriage for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple.
Fern is survived by her children, Harvey (Jill) Peterson, Donna (Tom) Ostler, Charlene (Kevin) Harley, Rodney Peterson, Julie (Jeff) Dale, 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by Aza, Joseph, Ida, Myrtle, David, Kenneth, Jerry, Ann (Chris), Wallace, Bob Ray Lougy, Tyler Ostler, Brenda Horne, and Lucille McAllister.
