Florence returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday October 2, 2026, at the age of 94. She was the second child of five children born to William Henry Golder and Minnie Nordhoff Golder. She was born at home on a cold snowy morning on January 1, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She met and married her high school sweetheart, William Boyd Wheat at a young age. Together they spent 75 years growing up and raising their family. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
In her life she held many titles of wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, nana, teacher, credit manager, treasurer and temple worker. But whatever her name, she was always willing and eager to do her part.
Florence worked 22 years for Newspaper Agency Corporation, her last position as the 1st woman Credit Manager. She served on an array of credit boards and iris society boards. She loved flowers and grew and hybridized Iris. Other hobbies were reading and genealogy. She now moves from genealogist to ancestor.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in several organizations. With her husband, she served 2 Family History Missions. She was a Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker for 22 years, of which 14 were with her husband, Bill.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Lucile, and her brother, Norman. She is survived by her brother, Mark (Sandra) Golder and sister, Carolyn June (J.R.) Thomas, as well as her 4 children, Wendee (Gary) Lawson, Claudette (Walter) Barlow, Julie (Dell Loy) Hansen and son, Ronald Wheat. She loved and admired her children's spouses as her own. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren.
She died with an enduring positive attitude about life and the life hereafter. Those left behind will miss her and those who preceded her in death will greet her joyously.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, 11:00 AM at the Valley View 4th Ward (2125 East Evergreen Avenue, Millcreek, UT 84109).
