Floridalma C Landvatter

September 9, 1946 — August 21, 2022

Floridalma (Flori) Castellanos Landvatter, born September 9, 1946, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, passed away in her home, in the early morning of August 21, 2022, with her two daughters by her side.
Flori was born to Eduardo Castellanos and Herminia Vasquez. She had four siblings: Carlos Roberto, Rosi, Sheny, and Eduardo. Flori loved sports, the boys, and being adventurous. She wasn’t afraid to try or do anything, including climbing trees in a dress.
In July of 1958 she was baptized a member of the LDS Church and then went on to serve a two-year mission in 1970 to Central America. Flori committed her life to living the gospel of Jesus Christ and had many callings over the years. Her most recent calling was making the plaques for the missionaries, which she loved.
Flori moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend LDS Business College. She lived with Ray and Monica Leake, who served the role as her parents when she came to the United States. Flori worked as a nanny until she married Brent Landvatter in 1974. Together they had five children, who were her everything and brought her so much joy and happiness. Flori spent countless years volunteering at Meadow Moor Elementary where her children attended school. Among volunteering in each of her children’s classes, she taught Spanish to the 6th graders and won Volunteer of the Year.
Flori worked for twelve years at Hallmark in Cottonwood Mall. She also worked at Mountain View Elementary for seventeen years as an Office Aide and Interpreter. She was loved and appreciated by the students, their parents, and her co-workers and she loved all of them.
Flori was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo Castellanos and Herminia Vasquez; her granddaughter, Kanitia Harper; her two brothers, Carlos Roberto and Eduardo Castellanos, and her father figure, Ray Leake. She is survived by her five children: Miriam (Jared) Harper, Mathew (Dashell) Landvatter, Gabriel (Shyla) Landvatter, Joseph (Kenzie) Landvatter, Elizabeth Landvatter, “adopted son” Otis (Rory) Johnson and eleven grandchildren. Her sisters, Rosi Ware and Sheny Venegas and her Utah Family: Monica Leake, Vickie Pearson, Kevin Leake, Kathy Nelson, Marilyn Spafford, and Derick Leake.
We would like to give special thanks to her sister Rosi, for her unfailing love and patience, doing her grocery shopping, sewing her clothes, and visiting her regularly, Grant Gardner for always shoveling her driveway and doing any little “chore” she needed, Phil McCraley for bringing her Sunday dinner, showing up in an emergency, and taking her garbage cans in and out, Linda Peterson for keeping her ice cream stocked, picking up her plums and raking her leaves, Jeremy Pack and his sweet family for bringing goodies, pictures, and watering her flower pots, and the members of the Cottonwood 8th Ward for loving her unconditionally and filling in alongside her children.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Cottonwood 8th Ward building, 6301 South 2300 East, Holladay. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday, August 28th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
The Funeral service will be broadcast.
