Floyd Harold Weston

Floyd Harold Weston, 89, passed away at his home February 9, 2013. He was born January 14, 1924 and was a lifelong resident in the Salt Lake area. He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Barbara Bowcutt (Rogers) then later divorced.

Floyd retired from Kennecott Copper in 1979. He loved old cars, loved to build and create new inventions, adoring his grandchildren, going to Chuck-A-Rama, and eating chocolate candy bars.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a Stake mission.

Floyd is survived by two sons and two daughters, Steven H. Weston (Carmen), Sherry Freedlund (Larry), David Weston, Marilyn Murdock (Weston); one sister, Donna Lewis (Stan), 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Weston and Blanche Larsen; 2 brothers, Arvil and Max; 2 sons, Gary Floyd Weston and Paul Douglas Weston; 2 grandchildren, Steven Lee Weston and Mattea Joy Freedlund.

Funeral services will be held on Friday February 15, 2013 at 11:00am at the Emerson Ward, 808 East Roosevelt Ave (1450 S.). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
