Forrest Sandusky Baker III, beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend, graduated from this life on Friday, June 21st, 2024, at the age of 69 in Salt Lake City, UT after battling bladder cancer. Forrest was born on October 24th, 1954 in Seattle, Washington to Forrest S. Baker Jr. and Carol (Fry) Baker, the fourth of seven children. On June 12th, 1976 he married his best friend, Sharon Oates.
Forrest changed the hearts and minds of an entire generation as the founder of Feature Films for Families, an independent film studio dedicated to creating powerful family content imbued with universal themes. He invented a robust system for selling his films over the phone, and at one time boasted a company size of over fourteen hundred employees. He dedicated his life towards living like the Savior, helping those who were most often overlooked. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived his life with a deep desire to serve God.
Forrest will be remembered for the magic he created not only in his films, but in the lives of all those that knew him. He loved to read, especially science fiction novels and would never pass up an opportunity to visit the bookstore. He had a big sweet tooth and kept a treasure trove of candy next to his bed. He loved solving puzzles and playing board games, but be careful he cheats (he even admitted in the end)!
He will be remembered fondly by his six loving children, Forrest (Angelina) Baker IV, Jared (Carolyn) Baker, Sarah (Mark) Sly, Karily (Michael) Calton, Holly (Taylor) Patterson and Nathaniel (Emily) Baker as well as twenty-three grandchildren. He was also loved by his six siblings Robin (Robert) Slover, Tamara (Russ) Hemmert, Melanie (Carl) Bowers, Matthew (Patricia) Baker, Johnathan Baker, and Tristan (Ted) Schultz. He is now reunited with his wife Sharon and stillborn daughter Brittany who preceded him in death as well as his parents.
