Frances L. Armstrong Miner Fleming

September 28, 1925 — April 16, 2010

On Friday, April 16th at 7:00 AM, Frances Fleming departed on her journey into the eternities. She passed from this life with members of her family by her side, wishing her a fond farewell as she returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Frances was born the oldest of six children on September 28, 1925 in Joplin, Missouri to Shirley D. Fleming Armstrong and Clarence Homer Armstrong. As a young adult, Frances was anxious to set out and see the world. The events in her life took her first to Salt Lake City where she married Richard A. Miner on October 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they have five children: Lawrence, David, Melinda (Main), Douglas and Lisa (Croft). Their domiciles together included Colorado (Craig), Washington (Ephrata), California (San Bernardino), Utah (Salt Lake City) and Germany, where she lived for 18 years. From there she traveled to many parts of the world.

Frances earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. She earned her Masters degree in International Relations from the University of Maryland. She began her teaching career in Salt Lake City and continued teaching in the DODDS overseas schools. Upon retirement, she returned to her hometown, Joplin. In her retirement, she enjoyed writing, electioneering, conducting WWII historical research and spending time with her friends and grandchildren. In the sunset of her life, she returned to Salt Lake City where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter and residents of Friendship Manor. Frances is survived by four children, twenty grandchildren and soon to be seven great-grandchildren. Her son, David R. Miner, and her former husband, Richard A. Miner preceded her in death.

The family would like to thank Olea Frandsen (France's niece), Judy Martin, Elizabeth Muro and Inspiration Hospice for their support and care of mother.
