Frances Josephine (Josie) Malas Price
February 17,1934 – March 3, 2023
Josie returned to her Heavenly Father on March 3rd, 2023. She was born to Pedro and Elizabeth Malas, in Park City Utah. She was an only child, but had two best friends that were like family. They would ice skate and go sledding in the winter time, swimming and riding bicycles in the summer. Her Mother would play lots of games with them. They would go to the movies on Saturdays for 10 cents. She attended Park City High School, where she played clarinet and marched in the marching band. High School was fun for her. She was elected runner-up as Freshman Queen. Her Senior year she was elected to be Secretary of the Senior class.
After high school, she and two friends moved to Clearfield, Utah and went to work at Hill Air Force. She was an airplane mechanic (disassembling old aircraft). It was there she met her sweetheart, Oliver. He had returned from active duty in Korea. They dated for a year then eloped to Elko, Nevada. They were married on August 1, 1953. She and Oliver studied different religions, and she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1954. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on March 25, 1955. They were blessed to have over 68 years together.
While expecting her fourth child she was surprised with twins! At almost six months one twin passed away. She was a loving and dedicated mother. She and Oliver loved doing things with their family, family trips, camping and playing games. She loved going to Lava Hot Springs with family, doing crafts, roasting smores’, staying up late around the campfire, and of course, playing games.
Josie was an active member of the Church throughout her life and enjoyed serving in many callings. While serving as Primary President her ward had the largest Primary in the church with over 425 children. She was blessed to help others as a Relief Society President and even at 80 years old she served as a counselor in the Young Women’s. Her service is remarkable and never failing. She employed at the LDS Family History Center until retirement. She made many lifelong friends there. She would go to lunch and visit with them often and they richly blessed her life.
She cherished time with her family above all. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved stopping after school for cookies. Sending pictures back and forth on phones. Taking vacations with her. Her great sense of humor was enjoyed by all. She was one smart cookie. She loved to read and could answer Jeopardy questions easily. She was talented at cross-stitch and calligraphy.
She is survived by her loving husband, daughter Diane Kerby (Terrell), her sons David Price (Elena), Dan Price (Carrie), and Ray Price (Melinda). She has 13 adoring grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and son Richard.
