Frank Charles Friberg, 67, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Frank was being treated at a local hospital for CHF, and sustained a fall which resulted in a serious brain injury and his death.
Frank was born on April 4, 1946 in American Fork, Utah to Erma and Frank Blood. He and his older sister, Pat, spent their childhood on their family's poultry farm. After their mother died, Frank and Pat were legally adopted by their Aunt and Uncle, Hedve and Arnold Friberg. Frank posed for several of Arnold's paintings, and met many of the stars of the movie "The Ten Commandments," including Cecil B. DeMille who stayed in their home during the world premiere in Salt Lake City. After graduating from Olympus High School in 1964, he served a tour of duty in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive.
Frank married Jayna Gibson on May 14, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple, during their 17 year marriage they had 3 daughters, Amy, April and Arianne. They moved to Denver, Colorado where Frank attended the Colorado Police Academy and became a proud police officer for the Golden Police Department. They returned to SLC where Frank worked over 30 years for the Salt Lake City Corporation and retired in 2010. He served over 10 years for the Army National Guard.
Frank's 3 daughters were the light of his life, he even saved every card, letter and drawing they ever gave him. Frank was known as Grandpa, Frankpa, TicTac Grandpa, Uncle Frank, and Frankie. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his sister, Pat Friberg, his daughters, Amy Antonini (Greg), April Black (Monte) and Arianne Newton (Greg); 9 grandchildren; Abby, Ashton and Amelia Black; Max and Marcus Antonini; Anika, Cambree, Jayman, and Eliza Newton; 4 nieces, Wendy Moore, Stacey Baldzicki, Angie Byrnes, Jennifer Byrnes, and 1 nephew, Michael Cunningham, and 2 beloved cats, Thomas and Elliott. He is preceded in death by his parents Erma and Frank Blood, Hedve and Arnold Friberg, and grandson, Spencer Newton.
Funeral services will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 am on Friday, March 14th. There will be a viewing 9:30-10:30am prior to the service. Burial at the Veteran's Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Riverton, Utah.
