Frank Ray Goodman

January 2, 1944 — September 6, 2025

Frank Ray Goodman, 81 years old, of Taylorsville, Utah died peacefully on September 6, 2025 with his wife of 57 years, Shari Goodman, at his side.

He was born in Napa, California on January 2, 1944 to Bertha Mortensen and Guy Wayne Goodman. Shortly after, his family moved to Needles, California, where Frank attended school, graduating from Needles High School, class of 1961. That summer his family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon. Frank attended Southern Oregon College in Ashland, Oregon before being called to serve a two and a half year mission to Finland. Shortly after returning from Finland, he signed up for the draft and was sent for military service in Vietnam. Upon returning from Vietnam, Frank went to the door of Shari Ramey and asked her to marry him. They were married June 14, 1968 in Klamath Falls, Oregon and were sealed the next day in the Oakland California Temple.

Shortly after the birth of their son Drew in San Jose, California, Frank and Shari moved to Provo, Utah where he finished his degree in Elementary Education. He was employed by the Jordan School District at Westvale Elementary where he taught 4th through 6th grades for several years. While they were living in Murray, their second child, Anna-Liisa was born.

Frank and Shari moved their small family to their first house in West Jordan, Utah, and while living here, three more children, Joseph, Thad, and Aaron were added to the family. With a growing family Frank could no longer afford to support them on an educators salary and changed employment. Over the next several decades he worked as a school and office supplies salesman for several companies, finally retiring from Pens, Etc. The family outgrew the small home in West Jordan, and in 1979 they moved to Taylorsville, Utah where Frank and Shari lived until his death.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frank served his church and fellow members in many callings over the years, including as a young Bishop while living in West Jordan, and on the high council of three different stakes. Frank truly lived by the words of King Benjamin from the Book of Mormon who said, “that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” Many people came to know and love Frank through his dedicated service.

Frank was preceded in death by his father (Guy Wayne Goodman), his mother (Bertha Mortensen Goodman), and his son (Thad Franklin Goodman). He is survived by his wife, Shari Goodman, son Drew Goodman (Nicole), daughter Anna-Liisa Sansing (Jeff), and sons Joseph Goodman (Seng), and Aaron Goodman (Cindy). He is also survived by two sisters, Ranae Plumb and Beverly Richardson. He leaves a growing legacy of 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
