Frank Joseph Hill

October 23, 1946 — September 17, 2025

Devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend

Frank Joseph Hill was born on October 23, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Cleon and Christine Hill.

Frank, who was lovingly known as “Frank Joe” and “Uncle Frank,” took his last breath on earth on September 17, 2025, after a brief illness. That date also marks the moment Frank took his first breath in heaven, and where he reunited with his one true love, his late wife, Jeri.

At an early age, Frank, his six siblings, and their parents moved from Shreveport to Portland, Oregon. It was there that Frank attended the Portland Public Schools system. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. The Techmen and Techsters alum was so proud of Benson Polytechnic that he bragged about his former high school every chance he had.

In 1967, Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in Salt Lake City, Utah. He conducted one tour and was deployed to South Korea. After four years of service, Frank re-enlisted for two more years, but this time as a reserve. Before Frank was honorably discharged for serving his country, he met his future wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Davis.

On June 14, 1968, Frank and Jeri were married. The Hills' decided to make Utah their home and raise their three children: Kevin, Frank Jr., and Angenette.

Frank worked as a technician for Western Electric for more than 30 years. In 2000, he retired so that he could care for his ailing wife, Jeri.

Frank Joe was pure joy. The outdoorsman was the life of the party. He loved golfing, hunting, dominos, working on cars, and cruising on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. However, what Frank loved most was helping others— and creating his own language. Some of Frank’s favorite made-up words were “Indubitably” and Eee-be-dee-be-dee” and “Dup-de-qua.” He was also famous for making people laugh (and sometimes cry). “If you know, you know.”

Frank was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Salt Lake City. He was also a community activist and a proud member of several local organizations, including the NAACP, American Legion, Soul on Snow Black Ski Club, and the Elks Lodge.

Frank Joseph Hill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine “Jeri”; his parents, Cleon and Christine Hill; and two siblings: brother Patrick and sister Hortense Hill.

Left to cherish Frank’s legacy are his three children: Kevin Little (Shaye), Frank Hill Jr., and Angenette Marbury (Norman). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, including his two granddaughters: Kayla Little and Normani Morgan (Shawn); nine grandsons: Isaiah, Kayshaun, and Jerrick Little; Tyreese, JuMuar, and Khalil Hill; and Eric, Juno, and Christian Marbury. Frank also leaves two great-grandchildren: Kayson Riley and Kali Vallagomez. In addition, Frank is survived by his siblings: Nancy, Bennie, Nobie, and Steve Hill; brothers-in-law: Robert and Dennis Davis; and his niece Artysha Holston-Dexter, whom he helped raise; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including his lifelong friends.

In his last days, Frank was eternally grateful to his nieces Artysha and Dione “Dee Dee” Jenkins, who were both his guardian angels. Stephanie Davis and her daughter, Karli, who also cared for their uncle, Frank, and Linda Pettit & Artysha his domino buddies.

Go ahead Mr. Frank J. Hill, job well done, take your rest. We love and will miss you, but God loves you best.
