Frank A Poulson

December 12, 1935 — July 27, 2025

In Loving Memory of Frank A Poulson, age 89, who was born December 12, 1935, in Ephraim, Utah, on a snowy day. It hadn’t snowed all season until the afternoon he was born. His parents were Alton Lewis Poulson and Gladys Mabel Christine Nielsen of Sanpete County. He was the third of five boys. His family later moved to Tooele, where he lived until he joined the Air Force.

His first assignment was basic training at San Antonio Lackland Air Base. He then transferred to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA, for about three years. Frank was colorblind, so that limited him from the flying he wanted to do. He served for 4 years during the Korean War.

Frank served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark for 31 months, from 1958 to 1961. He was set apart as a missionary by Marion G. Romney. He met Inge’s grandmother knocking on doors one day in Denmark. She let the missionaries in, and Inge’s picture was on a shelf. Frank mentioned he had met this girl in Copenhagen, and Inge’s grandmother said that Inge had just moved to America. He served in Kolding, Copenhagen, Alborg, Haderslev, Randers, and Esbjerg. He loved his mission and developed lasting memories and friendships with many he came in contact with. He met Inge again in Salt Lake City, attending a missionary companion’s homecoming.

He was sealed to his lovely bride, Inge Lis Magnusson, in November 1961. He was fortunate to have his uncle, Bent, who was the Manti temple president at the time, seal them. His heritage came from Sanpete County, with his three grandparents also immigrating from Denmark and Sweden. Frank's parents were born in Manti and Ephraim.

Frank and Inge lovingly raised Ronda (Bruce) Jones, Eric (Dewi) Poulson, and Marie (Bryan) Arnett in Cottonwood Heights. They love spending time with 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graduated from BYU with a bachelor of arts. Frank would always say he spent two years at LDS Business College, two years at BYU, two years at U of U. But his blood still ran true blue, BYU. “Go Cougars”

Frank loved the gospel and always strived to live its truths. He taught his children and others those truths. He was always an example of staying faithful to his beliefs. Church callings were assistant ward clerk, membership clerk, young men leader, Scoutmaster, Sunday School, Sports director and coach, and temple worker. He always attended Sunday meetings till health didn’t permit. Then looked forward to those who brought the sacrament to him each week.

He was always a hard worker at whatever he did. He expressed kindness and love, and rarely a harsh word or criticism.

His interests were sports and anything BYU. He loved playing ward ball. Fishing was a favorite activity, and he shared that love with his grandchildren.

When recently asked what to include in his obituary, he said, “Let them know I was never in jail”.

The entire extended Poulson family would like to express sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all those who lovingly provided healthcare, PT, OT, hospice, and other medical care to Frank over the years. We especially want to thank: Mt. Olympus Rehabilitation Center, Tender Care Hospice, VA hospital, and all VA medical professionals, U of U surgery department, and members of the River 5th Ward through the years.
