Franklin Idaho Bradbury

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Franklin Idaho Bradbury Jr. joined his beloved parents, brother, sister, and other loved ones on the other side of the veil. Frank was born in Salt Lake City on March 26, 1948, to Franklin Idaho Bradbury and Joy Dee Allgood, and he cared deeply and loved each of his five siblings. They were raised in Salt Lake City and Bountiful, Utah, where the family has remained very close in both proximity and spirit.

Frank worked in the home security sector but would have preferred to be remembered by his service to others, his dedication to his family, and his enduring faith in the gospel. Those in his ward will remember his kind wisdom expressed through a soft and deliberate voice when he served as Bishop. His love for his family guided his devotion to the Lord, and his service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was easily recognized in his commitment to his family. For Frank, those two loves were not different.

No one understood this more than his unwavering spouse of 52 years, Mary Jane (Swapp) Bradbury. The two were married in Bountiful, Utah, on November 17, 1973. Later, Frank and Mary Jane would be sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 17, 1977. It wouldn’t take them long to grow their family with four beautiful children: Jamie, Franklin Adam, Joseph Dee, and Beau Mont. Each of whom continues to practice the quiet but profound lessons Frank imparted on each of them.

Some of Frank’s favorite memories were spent at the Grey’s River in Wyoming with his immediate and extended family, fishing, hiking, and telling campfire stories. He loved being in the outdoors with his kids, and despite being his only vice of exaggeration and falsities, he also loved to fly fish. Frank was a Scout Master in West Bountiful and the Camp Cook in Boise, Idaho. His camp cooking is renowned throughout the Rocky Mountains but is regarded second only to his dry wit and casual comfort in expressing kindness.

Frank deployed a subtle wit with immense humor. This kept him in good graces with both the elderly and the youth. He was easy to laugh with and, with an uncalculated reticence, found a way to leave a profound impact on the life of anyone fortunate enough to know him. Frank is lived on by his anchor, his wife, Mary Jane, his four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Each will keep Frank’s teachings and memory alive until we are all together again.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Layton Stake Center, located at 60 West Gordon Avenue in Layton, Utah. A second viewing will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., also at the Layton Stake Center. Interment will follow at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary and Cemetery.
