Fredric Thompson

Born 26 Sept 1931, Spring City, Utah. Died 31 Dec 2012, Salt Lake City, Utah. Son of Tenus and Evelyn Maeser Thompson (deceased). He married his sweetheart Eilene Johnson in 1956. Sealed in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple.

Graduated in Geology at BYU. His first occupation was in the Uranium field in Southern Utah, where he was exposed as a Downwinder during Nevada bomb testing. Worked in SLC, UT, for the US Bureau of Reclamation as a Geologist; Bechtel Corp, Buena Park, CA, as Chief Geologist; US Forest Service, Price, UT as Chief Geologist; and US Bureau of Reclamation as Chief Geologist where he retired in 1993.

Fred loved spending time with his family, fishing, camping, prospecting, doing puzzles, and summer time at their Scofield cabin.

Diagnosed with Cancer in 1990, Fred endured 14 different chemo treatments in the past 23 years. His body could no longer take the life challenges from the cancer or its side effects to his body. He served faithfully in many callings in the wards where he resided, until becoming homebound for the last 2 years. He enjoyed his religion in the LDS church.

Siblings: Robert (Nancy) Thompson, Frank (Afton ) Thompson, Shirley (Mel) Bangerter, John (Linda) Thompson. Children: Mark (Pam) Thompson, Mindy (Mark) Bunnell, Kristen (Doug) Gleed, Trudy (Mark) Messick and Troy (Allison) Thompson, 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 5th at the Mt Olympus Ward, 4635 Lanark Road (3315 East), SLC. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:40am prior to the service. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery. Messages to the family can be posted at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
