Fredrick W. Osterloh, age 86, died July 2, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born August 31, 1926 to Helen G. and William D. Osterloh. He graduated from South High School in 1943, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, fulfilled an LDS mission to Australia, graduated from the University of Utah in 1951 and upon graduation he worked as a Special Agent in the FBI for two years.
Fred married Mary Gayle Griffin on September 18, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the proud father of three sons: Rick, Craig and Mike.
He loved being a restaurateur. He opened numerous restaurants over the years including Fredrico's Pizza, Fred's Burger Chalet, Fred's Family Restaurant, El Sol Mexican Restaurant and Su Casa Mexican Restaurant. His first restaurant, Fredrico's Pizza, has been in business for over 55 years. Fred was inducted into the Utah Restaurant Association Hall of Fame and also received its Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a generous man and proud supporter of Operation Smile and Healing Hands for Haiti.
Fred was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and absolutely loved teaching Gospel Doctrine.
He is survived by his wife Gayle and three sons; Rick (Brenda), Craig (Kimiko), and Mike (Denice), 17 grandchildren, and one and 9/10ths great grandchildren. Also survived by sister Kathryn (Walt) Clark. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Gloria and brother Paul.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Neffs Canyon Ward, 4176 South Adonis Drive (3950 East). A viewing will be held on Monday evening, July 8, 2013 at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the church prior to services.
