Garth Bryant Hutchings "Papa", our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2015 after a brief fight with cancer.
Garth was born on December 31, 1951 to David and Beth Hutchings in SLC, Utah. Both parents have preceded him in death. He grew up with a loving family and is the youngest of three children. Garth graduated from Viewmont High School in 1970. He leaves behind a Brother Rodney (Sherry) and Sister Betsy (Richard) and several nieces; Misty, Windy, Sarah and Rachel.
Being an avid race car fan, Garth often found himself at one race track or another on the weekends. He was a fan of many drivers both local and professional, but he was the number one fan and supporter of his sons' race car days. It was Garth whom inspired and encouraged Cory to race and he enjoyed each moment he watched his son take the track. Although he was quoted as saying "that kid has no brains" in regards to painting the car green, he was the first one to say what a good looking car it was! He will be missed deeply by his race family.
Dedication was something that came naturally to Garth. He was not only dedicated to his family and friends, but his work as well. He worked for the same company for 44 years, staying long enough to have 9 different names. It was mostly known as Stone Container. His work family has been a major part of his life, and he will be missed by all.
Because of his huge and generous heart, Garth has made an impact on numerous friends and loved ones, he will be missed by each and every one of us. He is survived by his son Cory (Lissa), his grandson Landon, his stepchildren for life Chelcie (Travis) and CJ (Paul), and his partner Kandace.
We would like to thank the many friends, coworkers, and family that made the last moments of Garth's life so amazing. We will cherish all the memoires that have been shared.
Thank You to the staff at Mondi for taking the time to honor and celebrating his 44 years with the company he was so dedicated to. He was shy about it, but he sure did appreciate the visit, it is a memory that will never be forgotten.
