Gary Lynn Francis, aged 82 of Kearns Utah, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on September 15, 2023 in Taylorsville, Utah. Gary was born July 18, 1941 in Casper Wyoming to John Henry Francis and Inez Thelma Hamlet Francis.
Gary was a Christian and loved to study multiple versions of the bible in depth. Gary could learn just about anything and then be able to do it. He loved to cook and did so as a job and a hobby. He was a prolific piano player and his family loved to hear him play. He had an interest in horror films and the makeup and visual effects used in them; in his youth he and his friends created horror films for fun. He loved to play chess with his friends and family. He completed an online course for electricians and performed the electrical work for his family. Gary earned his degree in Psychology from Puget Sound University. Gary was highly intelligent; he loved doing crossword puzzles, but only the extremely hard ones. He enjoyed reading about religion, food, science and different cultures. He often shared his wealth of knowledge and love of healthy eating, music and movies with his family. Gary was a collector of movies; he would often gift his nieces and nephews with his favorite DVDs when he finished watching them. Gary’s parents were blessed with a son that looked after them, first his father prior to his passing, then his Aunt Nora, and lastly his mom, whom he loved immensely. He was a great caretaker, and their lives were enriched due to his dedication to them.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Francis and his mom Inez Thelma Hamlet Francis. He is survived by his brother John Collin Francis (Charlene) and sister Mary Louise Francis Shannon. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews and their children, his grand nieces and nephews. He will be celebrated in family service and interred at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
