Gayle Eleanor Defa passed away on July 16, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her.

Gayle was born to Charles and Eleanor Martin on December 27, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married the love of her life on September 6, 1958, and together they raised three children. Gayle loved spending time outdoors, stays at the ranch, collecting anything owl themed, lunches with her girlfriends, and she especially loved taking care of her family. She also enjoyed trips to Wendover where she played draw poker and spending time with her friends at Club 48.

She is survived by her children Terry (Kay), Scott (Peggi), Corey (Shelly), grandchildren; Landon, Preston, Marshall, Chase (Janelle), and great-grandchildren; Savanah and Esmeralda.

Gayle is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Richard, parents, siblings Ron Martin, Bill Martin, Dave Martin, and Shirley Haycock.

A viewing and gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
