Gayle Thompson

Oct 13, 2026 — Oct 20, 2026

Gayle was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clyde and Crystal (Fechser) Crow on Oct. 13, 1938. They moved to Calif. soon after and she grew up in North Hollywood where she lived until graduating from High school and then attended B.Y.U. 1956-1958, which was the high-light of her teen years.

In 1955 she met her future husband, Richard C. Thompson and they married Nov. 21, 1958 in the Los Angeles Temple and he became her eternal companion. They had 3 children, Donna, Craig and Michael. Dick was in the Army for much of their married life and they moved around the country to be with him.

Gayle was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter- Day-Saints and served in many callings. She served in the Draper temple for 4 1/2 years and she and Dick loved attending the temple for "date night" often. They also served a mission together in the Virginia Richmond mission 2002-2004, which was life-changing for both. She always enjoyed singing in the ward choirs and did so for many years.

Gayle was a member of the American Legion and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her favorite times were spent with family, especially her children and grand-children who brought her much joy. She enjoyed domestic and foreign travel with Dick and the chance to experience other cultures and amazing sights. She also liked sewing for her family, gardening, home decorating, photography and family history.

Gayle had a firm testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and bore her testimony often of her love for Him, expressing thanks for His tender mercies, the truthfulness of the Gospel, the Book of Mormon, and her many blessings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Douglas and sister Jean, and her husband Richard (in 2022). Survived by her children, Donna Goodro, (Tony), Craig (Jonathan), Mike (Diem) and grand-children, Christopher Goodro, Hailey Thompson, Minh Thompson, Lien Thompson and great-grandchildren, Lola Goodro, Grace Thompson, sister Janice and numerous nieces and nephews.
