Geneene Brady passed away on July 14, 2026, in Riverton, Utah.
She was born April 30, 1934, in Murray, Utah, to Lawrence Henry Brady and Elizabeth Blair Brady. She was the third child in the family, with older brothers Clinton and Perry, and younger brother Lee and sister Sherrie. She grew up on the Brady farm, where the family raised raspberries, strawberries, corn, and other vegetables. She worked hard on the farm and in the house, developing a strong work ethic that served her throughout her life.
She graduated from Jordan High School, attended Brigham Young University, and worked for Thomas S. Monson at the Deseret News before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hong Kong. She often told stories of the physical challenges she faced there given the living conditions — stories that spoke to her resilience and resolve.
After her mission, she worked for an insurance agency, and later for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in downtown Salt Lake City, where she served as personal secretary to two General Authorities, Elder Hugh W. Pinnock and Elder Joe J. Christensen. She cared for her mother, Elizabeth, throughout her later years, the two of them living together near the creek on part of the family farm.
Geneene became an integral part of her sister Sherrie’s family, serving as a second mother to Onika, Nate, and Spencer Cottle. After retiring from the Church, she began another season of service, helping care for the children of her Cottle nieces and nephews.
She loved BYU football and volleyball, playing cards at Sunday dinner, and "conducting" (even if only virtually) the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Music and the Spoken Word. She loved listening to music and dancing. Even in her final few days, she came to life listening to the song "I Can See Clearly Now," singing along: "the rain has gone... it's gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day."
She is survived by her sister, Sherrie and Roger Cottle; sisters-in-law Nyleen (Clinton), Carol (Perry), and Nikki (Lee) Brady; and many Brady nieces and nephews and their children.
Her funeral will be held at Memorial Estates (Mountain View) at 3115 E 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights, UT on Friday, July 17th. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:00 pm with the funeral to follow at 2:00 pm.
