Genevive “Veva” Leon, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2026. She was born on January 9, 1937, in Antonito, Colorado, to Climaco Romero and Elisaida Pacheco.
On May 11, 1957, Veva married the love of her life, Alex Leon, and together they raised four rambunctious children as they built a strong, loving, faith-filled life together. Veva was a prayer warrior and a woman of deep faith who was known for her feisty spirit. She was a pioneering member of her church and faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for 35+ years. She ran a home daycare and took care of most of her grandchildren and numerous other children in her community. Veva was known for her homemade tortillas and enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, and, more than anything, loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Lorence (Lindy) Leon; Cathy (Paul) Baca; Shirley Cordova. She was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one more on the way.
Veva was preceded in death by her parents, Climaco Romero and Elisaida Lucero; brothers, Max Romero and Paul Romero; sisters, Lucy Irvine and Celia Martinez; husband, Alex Leon; and son, Dennis Leon.
