George "Bud" Ange Katsilas passed away on the evening of November 21, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George A. and Myrtle Hutchings Katsilas.
After his service in the U.S. Navy, he owned several bars and cafes in Salt Lake City where many people raved about his incredible culinary skills. He loved golfing and hunting and being the life of the party. Bud always knew how to bring a smile to your face and his sense of humor was off the charts. His strength and perseverance were incredible and inspirational; even at the end of his life, his passion for living never faded.
Bud is survived by his children, Scott (Carolyn), Stephen, Bart (Lucy); daughter-in-law, Christine; and seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Al (Maxine); sister, Phyllis (Hyrum); son, Jeff; first wife, Laura Fay Miles; and his second wife, Gloria Dean Pitts. Bud was also blessed to be close to the Zoumadakis family and he considered them his own.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 25 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.
