George Robert Smith

September 12, 1925 — August 24, 2010

Robie was born September 12, 1925 in Murray, Utah, the second son of George Jonas and Florence Wasden Smith.

He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Destroyer Laws. He experienced the Easter Sunday invasion of Okinawa. He served in the military until 1946.

He married Patricia Reiser January 25, 1947.

He attended East High School where he excelled at basketball, the University of Utah and Idaho State University.

He worked at Petty Ford and Rick Warner Ford as a salesman with great integrity and dedication.

He is survived by his angel wife, Patsy; sons Thomas and James, Salt Lake City; daughter-in-law, Kathryn, Centerville; brother Alan M. Smith (Kathy), Eureka, CA; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son Richard.

Services at 12:00 noon Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Valley View Ward, 4032 South 2300 East. Visitation to be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., Friday, August 27, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday morning from 10:30 till 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Diabetes Foundation or the Salt Lake City Mission.
