Gerald "Jerry" J. McKean

Gerald J. “Jerry” McKean passed away on September 6, 2026. He was born on January 31, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jim McKean and Vivian Cracroft.

Jerry married the love of his life, Lois Wells, on February 14, 1983. He affectionately called her “my little sweetheart.”

Jerry graduated from Granite High School and went on to serve for seven years in the Army Reserves as a member of the 115th Engineer Battalion. He enjoyed every minute of his service. He also served as an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jerry took great pride in his yard. He spent countless hours tending his flowers and garden and loved showing them to others. An avid skier, bowler, and golfer, he also enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, and canoeing. If someone wanted to learn, Jerry was always happy to teach them.

Above all, Jerry loved spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed barbecues, holiday parties, and dancing with Lois and their friends. Halloween was their favorite holiday, and the two of them won multiple costume contests over the years.

Jerry was kind, funny, and accepting. He never passed judgment on anyone, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Jeannie Stroud; son, Deon McKean; daughter, Sheri Wells; granddaughters, Sheila Baker, Lesle Stewart (Camron), Melissa Wells, TJ Kvamme, Paula Dominguez, and Charley Dominguez; great-grandchildren, EJ Biogradilga, ZuZu Biogradilga, Mia Biogradilga, Zailey Kvamme, Tanna Stewart, and Keaton Stewart; and nephews, Mark Grandinetti, Mike Grandinetti, Terry Grandinetti, Jeff Stroud, and Jason Stroud.

He was preceded in death by Jim and Vivian McKean, Lois McKean, and Mert Grandinetti.

The family extends special thanks to Canyon Hospice and Holladay Health Center for the love and care they provided.

Urnside services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
