It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald V. Morse, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family. Just that evening, the family had shared one of their cherished weekly dinners together—a tradition upheld for many years—making their final moments with him full of love, laughter, and togetherness.
Gerald was born on February 6, 1933, in Logan, Utah, to Lester and Tessie Morse. His life was marked by quiet strength, enduring love, and an unwavering devotion to family. He found his greatest joy in his marriage to Joann A. deJel, his loving companion for 59½ years until her passing. Together, they built a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience that continues through their children and grandchildren. After retirement, Gerald and Joann embraced the freedom of the open road, traveling in their motorhome and especially cherishing winters spent in the south.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gerald spent many years working as a skilled painter, admired for his dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic. He had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. One of his most treasured traditions was singing “Put Another Log on the Fire” during family camping trips, always sparking laughter and creating lasting memories. His humor, warmth, and storytelling will be dearly missed.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with Joann, his favorite person, and that they are once again dancing side by side.
Gerald is survived by his three children: Vickie Curtis, Scott (Cherie) Morse, and Jerry (Trudy) Morse, who will forever carry forward his lessons of integrity, humor, and kindness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joann, his two brothers, and his seven sisters. Though he endured the loss of many loved ones, Gerald never lost the warmth and generosity that defined his spirit.
To his grandchildren, Grandma and Grandpa were everything. They delighted in hosting sleepovers, planning camping trips, and never missed a game, recital, or milestone. Their presence—in the stands, in the audience, and around the family campfire—was a steady reminder of the value they placed on connection, tradition, and encouragement.
Gerald’s legacy lives on in the laughter of children at family gatherings, the stories retold around campfires, and the unwavering pride he carried in every accomplishment of his family. His life was a testament to the power of showing up, loving without condition, and finding joy in life’s simple but lasting moments.
