Gertrude Zollinger Bush age 96 passed away December 8, 2010 peacefully at home. Gertrude was born October 6, 1914 in Rexburg , Idaho to Albert Zollinger Jr. and Marie Graf. She grew up in Rexburg and Hibbard , Idaho .
She graduated from Henager's Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She used her secretarial skills at various jobs in the Salt Lake area and for many years was her husband's bookkeeper/secretary in his business. Later in life she worked at Wirthlin's Inc.
She married Giles Frederick Bush on January 29, 1938. Although, they lived in various states during their early marriage, the majority of the time they lived in the Salt Lake area.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. She served an LDS mission to Ventura, California. She was a faithful visiting teacher and did name extraction and temple work for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, traveling, and activities with her Singles group, playing Scrabble and other games and being with her family and friends. She was an Associate member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers--Highlanders Camp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; and three brothers, Paul, Mark and Frank Zollinger.
She is survived by her children: Allan (Beth) Bush, and Patricia (Ronald) Watson of Salt Lake City, UT, Joyce (Carl) Glaettli of Nampa, ID, Kenneth (Charleen) Bush of Houston, TX; brothers, Albert (Norma) and George Zollinger; sister, Katherine (Gail) Nielsen; and 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Harmony and Silverado Hospices for the exceptional care given to Mom.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00am at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East. Friends may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to the service.
