Glen C Wright

On September 13th, 2026, Glen C. Wright, 62, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at St. Mark’s Hospital surrounded by his family.

Glen was born September 23, 1963, in Green River, UT, to Jerome “Dan” Wright and Mary Collins Wright. He lost his mother, Mary, at a young age. His father later married Gaye Macfarlane, who became the mother who raised Glen.

The family eventually moved to Park City, where Glen and his siblings grew up. Glen graduated from Park City High School in 1981. Shortly after graduation, Glen enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Blue Ridge, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.

While serving, Glen made port in Hong Kong, where he met the woman who would become his wife, Shona. The two married in 1983 and spent a short time in Japan before settling in Albuquerque, NM. There, they began building their family with the birth of their daughter, Felicia, and son, Matthew.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Glen and Shona returned to Salt Lake City in 1988. Glen went on to build a career in the IT field while continuing what mattered most to him: his family. His youngest son, Joshua, was born in 1993.

Glen took great pride in watching his children grow and was there for countless milestones along the way—from martial arts tournaments, sporting events, and performing arts to university graduations and a wedding. In his later years, he delighted in being a grandfather to Payton and Henry.

Glen loved to travel, and some of his happiest adventures were trips to the Caribbean with Shona. He loved entertaining friends and family and had a particular talent for making his home a place where people wanted to gather. He even built his own sports bar at home, creating a space for good company, good conversation, and plenty of sports. If you were lucky enough to be a guest, there was a good chance Glen would be standing nearby with his favorite drink—a Scotch on the rocks.

He also loved to cook, with Hamburger Helper being among his particular specialties. And, of course, Glen was always quick with a dad joke, delivered with the confidence of a man who knew exactly how terrible it was and told it anyway: “Hi hungry, I’m Dad!”

Glen is survived by his wife, Shona; his children, Felicia, Matthew, and Joshua and his wife, Samantha; and his grandchildren, Payton and Henry. He is also survived by his mother, Gaye Munford; his brothers, John, Gary, Bret, and Sean; and his sister, Jann.

He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Mary, and his father, Dan.

A small private ceremony for family will be held to celebrate Glen’s life on October 2nd, 2026. A larger Celebration of Life, open to any who knew him, will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Warrior Revival, a nonprofit supporting local veterans. Glen cherished those who served our country, and a contribution in their honor would be a fitting way to remember him. www.warrior-revival.org
