Glenda Elizabeth Waters Harden passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on May 12, 2009 at St. Joseph Villa of causes incident to age.
Glenda was born November 21, 1931 in Hope, Arkansas to Ida Louise Brint and Jay Waters. Glenda joined the LDS Church with her family in Louisiana. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ and His gospel were a predominant influence in her life.
Glenda came to Utah as a teenager. She had a wonderful step-father, Stewart Jones. She married Allen Spencer Harden on September 17, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the U. of U. in 1978, and taught history in the Jordan School District.
Glenda had a joyful and endearing laugh. She loved life and always showed great determination in making things happen. She lifted people by making life beautiful and sharing her Southern hospitality and charm.
Glenda and her husband served as temple missionaries in the Washington D.C. Temple. Her greatest joy was serving her family, the living and the dead. She finished and published a genealogy started by her late mother which forged great ties to her extended family in the South. Glenda is survived by her husband, Allen; children, Elizabeth (Tom) Tripp, Spencer (Anne); 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Deborah Ann, and Mary Louise; 1 grandson, Jeffrey Thomas Tripp; and her sister, Barbara Moulton.
Funeral services: Saturday, May 16, 2009, 11:00 a.m., East Mill Creek Stake Center, 3103 E. Craig Drive (3600 S.) Viewings: Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. and at the church Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
