Glenn Kirk passed away courageously on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 surrounded by family. Glenn was born October 27, 1937 in Cabool, Missouri to Glenn Howard Kirk & Dorothy Lucille Miller Kirk. Glenn was the oldest and brother to his two sisters, Glenna & Delores.

Glenn moved to Southern California as a young boy. His parents divorced when he was 8 years old. Glenn’s father was a businessman and chicken rancher and needed help, therefore Glenn went to live with his father and was put to work. His two sisters stayed with their mother.

Glenn was a diligent helper to his father and evolved into a brilliant student and played on the varsity basketball team in High School. Quite accidentally, he ended up in a music class where he met his future bride, Clarissa Makin. Together they sang in a sextet even appearing on television. Glenn was a highly requested wedding singer performing at a number of various events.

Glenn and Clarissa married on July 3, 1957. They welcomed their first child, Douglas, in 1959 followed by Susan in 1962. They raised their family in Southern California.

Glenn attended USC where he received his Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He became a leading authority in the area of designing computer power supply sources and efficiency systems. He was renowned in this field. He was credited with securing patents for a number of major corporations. Glenn was a mentor to many new engineers in this field. He loved teaching and created the “Brown Bag” group that spent lunch hours together where he taught and shared his deep understanding and experience in this field. Glenn was a genius in mathematics and loved helping his children and grandchildren learn how to problem solve.

Glenn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1971. He completely dedicated his life to the Lord and found joy in serving in many leadership capacities. His greatest joy in his later years was family history work. He spent untold hours searching for his ancestors and teaching others how to most effectively work with FamilySearch.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Glenna.

He is survived by his wife Clarissa; son Douglas (Maria); daughter Susan Stidham-Waltman (Randy); sister Delores Smith (Ed); brother Don Kirk (Maggie); brother Howard Kirk; grandchildren: Morgan Powell (Russell); Austin Stidham; Devon Jones (Jake); Matthew Kirk; Alexa Kuehne (Blake); great-grandchildren: Van Jones; Scarlett Stidham; Wesley Jones; Brodie Jones; Oliver Kuehne; Charlotte Kuehne; Allison Powell; Samuel Powell.

Funeral Service is held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, 10:00 am at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
