Died on July 9, 2025 in Murray, Utah. She was born on October 4, 1942 in Riverside, California to Glen Hatch Tolman and Adele Marion Kerr Tolman. She married Lawrence L. Neilson on December 21, 1960. They were sealed for time and eternity on August 25, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glenna was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Nursery, Primary and Relief Society.
Glenna loved to travel, spending time with family, attending the theatre, watching the University of Utah football and basketball games, and attending the Red Rocks Gymnastics meets, and she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City in 1961. She attended the University of Utah and earned her B.S. in Elementary Education in 1991. She attended Utah State University to earn her Mild-Moderate and Brigham Young University to earn her Severe-Profound Certifications while teaching at Hartvigsen School in the Granite School District. She began teaching in the Fall of 1991 and taught until she retired in June 2012. She loved her students and they loved her.
She was a member of the Salt Lake Gardner’s Mill Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served as the 1st Vice-Captain until she was not able to attend the meetings due to health issues.
She is survived by her son Cory (Michelle); daughter Lori; son Jeff (Amy); grandchildren – Heather, Matthew (Lexi), Aaron (Megan), Nora, Caroline, John and Peter; great grandchildren – Aubreyanna, Brayson, Chloe, Aliyah, Addison, Owen, Carter and Berkley. She is also survived by her sisters Geraldine Coombs, Joann Barlow (Craig), and brothers Glen (Lynne) and Byron (Peggy); Sisters-in-Law Rosalie Rogers and Patty Neilson, and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence; her parents Glen and Adele; grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Father-in-Law Shirley Park Neilson and Mother-in-Law Dixie Neilson. Brothers-in-law Jim Neilson and Tim Neilson and Sister-in-law Dixie Ann Dwyer also preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held on: Saturday, July 19, 2025 starting at 2:00 PM with a viewing prior starting at 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM. There will be an evening viewing at Memorial Murray Mortuary (5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah) starting at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Internment will be at Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery in Sandy Utah.
