Gloria Colleen Chappell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of Murray, Utah, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, after a difficult struggle with cancer, surrounded by family. She was 88.
Born July 27, 1937, in California to Louis Theodore Berard and Ethel Allred, Gloria lived a life of energy, creativity, and service. She worked on a farm in her youth, later at the Federal Reserve Bank, and went on to own a thrift store. For 32 years, she and her daughter Belinda ran the antique shop, Cobwebs—a fixture in the community that continues today under Belinda’s care.
Gloria loved camping and hunting, and she enjoyed collecting antiques and other curiosities. She was an excellent cook who delighted family and friends with her meals; she was also a great accordion player!
She is survived by her five adult children: Belinda Heise; Bart Lafeen (spouse Amy); Greg Lafeen (spouse Deanna); Cary Lafeen (spouse Teresa); and Jon Horrocks (spouse Theresa); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Theodore Berard and Ethel Allred, and her brother, Jack Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing from 12:30–1:45 p.m. and a graveside dedication at 3:15 p.m. Services will be at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
