Obituary

Gloria Macias Olmedo, age 76, passed away on August 31st, 2026 in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on December 3rd 1949, In La Huerta Jalisco, Mexico to Filogoño Macias and Simona Olmedo

Gloria was the second oldest of ten siblings and a devoted single mother of three children. Throughout her life, she was a maternal figure to many of the younger ones in her family, helping raise and care for those around her with love and generosity.

Gloria was a woman of many hobbies and passions, and her creativity could be seen in everything she did. Her family fondly remembers the indestructible piñatas she made, which were so strong they often destroyed the stick before the piñata itself would give way. At family gatherings, Gloria’s energy on the dance floor was contagious. She was a naturally talented dancer, a gift that continues to live on through her children.

One of Gloria’s favorite ways to express her love was through cooking and baking. She shared her food generously with her loved ones and with members of her community, bringing people together through the meals and treats she lovingly prepared.

Gloria was also deeply devoted to her church and her Heavenly Father. She willingly volunteered her time, energy, and efforts in service to the church and others. Her faith was an important part of who she was and how she lived her life.

Of all the things her family will miss, perhaps what they will remember most is Gloria’s beautiful smile—especially the smile that followed one of her playful conundrums. Her laughter, creativity, dancing, cooking, faith, and loving spirit will remain treasured memories in the hearts of all who knew her.

Gloria is survived by her siblings: Miguel Macias Olmedo, Pepe Macias Olmedo, Carmela Macias Olmedo, Goño Macias Olmedo, Kali Macias Olmedo, Moi Macias Olmedo, Efrain Macias Olmedo, Baty Macias Olmedo, and Hugo Macias Olmedo.

She is also survived by her children: Alfredo Perez, Alejandro Perez, and Gloria Perez; and her grandchildren: Erick Perez, Carlos Perez, Laura Perez, Ashley Perez, Alex Perez, Nathyeli Mejia, Adam Perez, and Johvannie Perez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simona Olmedo and Filogoño Macias.
