Gregory Dean Schmardebeck, 49, passed from this life on Feb. 26, 2016, due to the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis, of which he endured for more than 18 years.
He was born to Gail Dean and Gwen Jensen Schmardebeck on a sunny afternoon on June 24, 1966. He was a natural born skier, water skier, and fisherman. He lived life on his terms. He was also an avid Ute fan.
He is survived by his mother, Gwen; son, Kelly Redmond; daughter, Karyn (Derek) Powell; sisters, Gaylene Bauer Robertson (Gary), Genette Hughes (Keith Franklin), Geneale (Neal) Shepard; granddaughter, Janessa; and his grandson, Easton. He is also survived by his stepmother, Rosalie Schmardebeck Terrell; loving nieces and nephews, extended family members and his special friends, Debbie Tronier, Lloyd Smith, Ross and Rosie. He was preceded in death by his father, Gail Schmardebeck; brother-in-law, Keith Bauer; best friend, Derek Herendeen; and his chow, "Pooh Bear."

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 29th at 1:00 PM at the Grandview LDS Chapel, 2930 South 2000 East, where an open house to visit with family will be held Sunday evening 6:00 to 7:30 PM and Monday 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the services. Burial services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to help defer funeral costs may be made at: gofundme.com under Greg's name.
