Gwen Martha Lewis Barber, 88, died August 26, 2016 of heart failure in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gwen was born on October 20, 1927, in Salt Lake City, the third child of Orson Lewis and Evaline Moesser Lewis. She attended South High School and graduated as a Home Economics major from the University of Utah. She served a mission in the Southern States. Gwen met James Barber on a blind date. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 10, 1956. They welcomed three daughters: Connie (Ken) Whitney, Linda (Brent) Nokleby and Sandra (Jerry) Hutchins.
Gwen served diligently in LDS church positions including Primary president, Relief Society president, Stake Relief Society president, and activity day leader. Gwen and Jim served as Family and Church History missionaries. She used her creative talents in all that she did.
Gwen is survived by her three daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., on Wednesday, August 31, at 2:00pm. There will be a viewing 12:30-1:30pm prior to the service. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Guestbook to post messages and tributes for the family available at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
