Hans Eric Keil
August 20, 1967 – December 5, 2025
Hans Eric Keil, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, with his children at his side. Born on August 20, 1967, to Irma H. Keil and Hans H. Keil, Hans was raised with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys of life.
Hans cared deeply about family above all else. He was the devoted father of three children: his eldest daughter Erica McKinney, his son Alexander Keil, and his youngest son Christian Keil. He was also a loving grandfather to his two granddaughters, Olivia McKinney and Ellisyn McKinney, who brought him endless joy. He was a fun grandpa—playful, warm, and always ready to make them laugh.
Hans is also survived by his sister Louise Koenig and his brother Peter Keil, who cherished him and shared countless memories over a lifetime.
A true outdoorsman, Hans found peace in the mountains. Fishing was one of his greatest loves—whether casting a line at his favorite lake or spending quiet mornings by the water, he found joy, patience, and connection in every moment. Camping beneath the stars and exploring the mountains made him feel at home in a way nothing else could.
Hans was also deeply artistic and musically talented. He played both the trumpet and the drums, filling the home with rhythm and music throughout his life. As an artist, he created beautiful drawings, each piece reflecting his eye for detail and his natural creativity. His artwork remains a treasured part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Gifted with a natural ability to fix nearly anything, Hans was a proud jack-of-all-trades and was always the first to lend a hand. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to reminisce—his stories brought people together, often filling the room with laughter. He cared deeply, quietly, and without hesitation. He was the kind of person who would give the last of what he had without a second thought. His generosity, kindness, and big-hearted spirit earned him lifelong friendships and the admiration of everyone who knew him. He will be missed profoundly.
The funeral service will held Saturday, December 20th at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church located 1030 South 500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. The Interment will take place at Memorial Redwood Cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
