"Beloved Husband and Father"
Harold Richard Howard, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died Sunday July, 25 surrounded by family due to complications following hip surgery.
Born August 16, 1925 in Holladay Utah to George A. and Ethel LaBeryl Ward Howard.
Harold served in the Navy during World War II. He met his lifetime sweetheart Shirley in California and they lived there for many years, before returning to Holladay, Utah.
He loved to go camping and fishing with his family, and he also enjoyed hunting with his brothers. He loved having his girls and their families come to visit.
He was a master gardener, and spent hour after hour in his gardens. They looked fabulous. Harold loved growing and selling crops of apples, pears, peonies, raspberries, and strawberries. He was also a great collector of many things. He retired from the post office and had a lunch bunch group he ate with weekly.
He was the best dad ever and a devoted husband. We will miss him very much.
He is survived by Shirley his loving wife of 58 years; 2 daughters Vicky (Mark) Van Sickle, Pamela (Danny) Peterson; sister Frances; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 12 noon at the Holladay 24th Ward, 4395 Albright Drive (2145 East), where friends and family can visit from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the service.
