Born on February 1, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Marlene’s boundless energy and talents touched countless lives, leaving an enduring legacy of love, art, and inspiration.
Marlene’s life was marked by an extraordinary range of accomplishments. A natural athlete, she embraced an active lifestyle from a young age, carrying that vitality throughout her years. At Brigham Young University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Art and English Literature, Marlene shone as a spirited cheerleader, captivating audiences with her enthusiasm and grace. Her poise and charm earned her the prestigious title of Miss Germany in the iconic Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California, a moment that reflected her radiant presence and ability to connect with others.
Music was another of Marlene’s gifts. With her Hawaiian guitar, she filled rooms with lovely melodies, her voice weaving stories of joy and nostalgia. Her artistic talents were equally remarkable. An accomplished painter, sculptor, and artist, Marlene’s works captured the beauty of the world as she saw it—vibrant, intricate, and full of meaning. Her creations, whether on canvas or in clay, remain cherished by family, friends, and collectors.
For many years, Marlene dedicated herself to education, teaching in the Granite School District with a passion that inspired generations of students. A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held on July 10, 2025, at the LDS Chapel in Holladay, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Granite School District’s Arts Education Fund, a cause close to Marlene’s heart.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Millcreek Ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3400 South 1100 East, Millcreek, Utah 84106. A viewing will be held from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121
