Harvey Rae Adamson, beloved father, grandfather, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on May 21, 1935, to Harvey and Mable Adamson in Salt Lake City, Utah. From an early age, Harvey carried a deep curiosity about the world that would shape the course of his life. He pursued higher education at the University of Utah, where he graduated magna cum laude. His academic accomplishments reflected a strong commitment to learning, culminating in multiple degrees and professional credentials, including a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Science, and clinical social work certifications. Harvey devoted his professional career to serving others through the State of Utah Department of Human Services, Division of Child, and Family Services.
Harvey devoted his life not only to his professional pursuits but also to his personal passions. He held a profound and ardent interest in the history of the American West. Over the years, he became an avid collector of frontier and American Indian historical relics, preserving artifacts that connected past generations to the present.
Among his greatest passions was raising, breeding, and training homing and champion racing pigeons. He dedicated countless hours to the care and development of his birds, taking immense pride in the sport he loved. His knowledge, patience, and commitment earned the respect of fellow enthusiasts and reflected the same determination he brought to every aspect of his life.
Harvey was known for his intellect, considerate disposition, and quiet passion for history. He inspired family, friends, and colleagues through his love of learning, his respect for culture and heritage, and his belief in the value of education. His wisdom, curiosity, and gentle presence left an impression on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind and thoughtful nature, as well as his lifelong commitment to education.
