Heidrun (Heidi) Marquardt, Age 77
Died on February 28, 2023, in Murray, Utah
She was born on June 1, 1945, in Bad Schmiedeberg, Germany, to
Harri Reinhold Musiat and Ingeborg Christa Weinberg
She Married Wolfgang Marquardt on September 11, 1965, in SLC, UT
At 15 years of age, Heidi operated an Immobilien (real estate) office in Berlin. Among her tenants were missionaries of the LDS church, who introduced her to its teachings. She met her future husband Wolfgang, the companion of the missionary who had baptized her and later followed him to Utah where Heidi and Wolfgang were married in the Salt Lake temple. In the following years they had three children. To help support the family Heidi took a part-time retail position as Christmas help with Grand Central. She was then offered a full-time position and over the years became merchandiser, assistant department manager and finally store director, having worked for Fred Meyer and Smith’s Marketplace. Working many 60-hour weeks, she still managed to raise a family with all the responsibilities that entailed.
Despite having seen some of the most beautiful places on earth, her favorite vacation spot was always a seat at the Bellagio buffet in Las Vegas. Someone said Steve Wynnn is going to name his next hotel after her, but don’t believe it.
As unfortunate a situation as is her passing, like Heidi used to say, “Scheisse am Stiel ist auch ein Lutscher.”
Survived by her husband, sister Jacqueline Falke, daughters Janine (Jerry) Christensen, Angelina Rodriquez, son David (Jill) Marquardt, Grandsons Cameron and Roman Rodriquez, Sam Marquardt, Granddaughters Tiffany (Nick) Brown, and Mia Marquardt.
She is preceded in death by Grandmother Anna Weinberg, Mother Christa Meyer, Brother Micky Meyer.
