Helen Mar (Chamberlain) Pugh

Helen Mar Chamberlain Pugh was born on February 14, 1921, the first of five children to Justin Chamberlain and Helen Mar Bunker, who were wonderful and good parents.

She was raised in Kanab, UT, with her two brothers and two sisters. She has outlived all but her youngest sister MaryLou (Pat) McCallister. She learned to work hard and especially loved yard work and gardening. She was excellent at gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. She hated growing older when she could no longer go out and work in her yard.

She attended a rural school with 20 students in the graduating class.  She was editor of the yearbook and valedictorian.

She attended Utah State University before she married Robert Pugh on October 15, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She had four children - Mildred Rogers (George), Roger (Pat), Duane (Kathy), and Kenneth (Tami).  She has been blessed with 33 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed helping her sons and other scouts earn merit badges to achieve their Eagle Scout Rank. She donated her O+ blood regularly for over 30 years until they said she was too old, in her mid 80's. She was responsible for the Ward & Stake Primary Children's Hospital Penny drive for many years until 2008.  She hosted elections in her home and was an election judge for 6 years.

Mar lived a life of service.  She enjoyed many callings in the church both on the ward and stake level.  She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00am at the Ridgedale Ward, 3400 South 1100 East, where friends and family can visit 9:30-10:30am prior to the service.
