Helene Kramer

January 27, 1927 — January 24, 2024

Helene Kramer, 96, of Bountiful, UT, passed away on January 24, 2024 of natural causes. Helene was born on January 27th, 1927 to Hermann and Helene Daleske in Germany. Her mom, dad and Helene joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while in Germany and when she met her husband Karl he decided to also join the church. Karl and Helene were married in July, 1949. They all immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1952 and then moved to Salt Lake City in 1959. Shortly thereafter they adopted their son Michael in January of 1961; upon her passing Helene had 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Helene has dedicated her life to working within the church volunteering to sell eggs for the welfare program and later worked in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples for over 30 years. When she could no longer attend the temple she worked in the genealogy area extracting names written in Old German. Her and Karl served a mission in the Frankfurt Germany Temple mission where Karl passed away while working in the temple. She served a second mission going back to the Frankfurt Germany Temple making lasting friendships including Silvana who is from Brazil. Helene sponsored Silvana to move here, put her through school to get certified as a nurse, and Silvana ended up living with Helene for more than 20 years. Helene was a missionary from the day she heard the Gospel message sharing her beliefs to everyone and anyone who would listen. Her testimony of us all being God's children resonated in her interactions with everyone she came in contact with including her renters. She was always known as the "cheap" landlord and was more interested in the well-being of those living in her properties then in how much rent she could charge. Her love for animals was legendary...from taking care of 10+ cats or feeding the birds and deer, to having 4 hummingbird feeders on her porch...I'm sure she was warmly greeted by them when she entered Heaven.

She was a wonderful grandma who loved and supported her grandchildren until she passed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Helene was predeceased by her sister Marta, her parents and her husband. She is survived by Mike and his wife Shaz as well as all of their children and grandchildren. She has always loved Shaz as a daughter…she never felt that she lost a son but gained a precious daughter.
