Herbert Floyd Tanner

July 29, 1930 — November 24, 2009

Son of Herbert A. Tanner and Vera Mae Kimber Tanner, born in Grouse Creek, Utah on July 29, 1930. Floyd attended school in Grouse Creek until the tenth grade and went on to graduate from Box Elder High School. Graduated from LDS Business College. After high school Floyd worked on the ranch until called on an LDS mission where he served in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. Later drafted in the U.S. Army serving most of his time in Germany during the Korean War as a military policeman. He was an accountant, rancher, and on the Board of Director's at Mountain America Credit Union since 1960. Enjoyed spending time at his ranch in Grouse Creek. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings. In 2008, he was honored as director of the year by the National Credit Union Association. Worked at the State Tax Commission for 27 and a half years.

He was married to Ruby Learned on October 20, 1952 and had four children, Marshall Tanner (Donna), Julann Geesey (Howard), Jill Faragher and Kenneth Tanner, died as an infant. Ruby passed away on April 30, 1976. Married Joyce Mitchell on June 11, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple. Joyce brought to the marriage Kayleen Krahenbuhl (Jim), Mitchell Scott Brinkerhoff (Carin), Tracy Derby (Scott), Conrad John Brinkerhoff (Rhonda) and Jason Floyd Tanner. They have 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Floyd's siblings include Marjorie, Audrey (deceased), Norma, Merle, Shirley (deceased), Darrell, Donald (deceased), Eileen, Allen (deceased), and Barbara. Also preceded in death by Joyce Tanner, parents and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Belview Ward, 6300 South 300 East, where friends and family can visit Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
