Howard Emerson Frye, 92 of Sandy, UT. passed away April 4, 2010 on Easter morning. The son of Leo A. Frye and Martha Knight. He was born in Camden, Maine, a beautiful harbor town. He graduated from Camden High School. Emerson had one sister, Beverly Shappo, who he shared a close relationship with. His nieces, Nicky and Margaret, plus many favorite cousins were close to him. He was the grandson of Edmund Frye and Carrie Gillis. He was the great-grandson of Captain James Frye and Harriet Cooper all of North Haven.
He was always interested in others and extremely generous by nature. Emerson's love of the ocean and sea food was unsurpassed.
He was a hard worker and remained employed by Hill Air Force Base until age 70. He worked for the last 17 years of his career in conjunction with F-16 fighter planes. Being an electronic whiz, he once worked on the radar systems of President Kennedy's yacht. He served as a medic in the Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Ahl; a son, Bob Frye; a daughter, Betsy Rogers. They had four children: Jim, Bobby, Betsy and Susie, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He married Donna Emerson in 1980. He gained eight step-children: Vicky, Kathy, Bill, Penny, Pat, Robinette, Roy and Roxanne; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He shared the last years of his life with his devoted wife Donna. Together they loved to dance, travel and be together with family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be remembered as a person who loved people and who loved life.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastridge 3rd Ward, 1187 East Draper Parkway (12300 South). A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South.
